In 2009, I started a cake business, Sweet Bea Cakes, and enjoyed my new “mixed media” of cake, frosting, fondant & food coloring.

I named the business for my mom, Beatrice, who would have been proud of my venture and would have likely suggested that every cake be made exclusively of chocolate.

All of my cakes are made from scratch. I cover my cakes with fondant, a sugar paste, which I purchase ready-made (Satin Ice). The sculpted items are either fondant or gum paste (another sugar paste, also by Satin Ice) and the painted images are done with food coloring. Unless noted, everything you see is edible.
